Windows wont give anything else access to the soundcard! So for anyone with this chipset duel booting, simple solution, dont restart from windows to boot into ubuntu, shut down and power up again. Took me a while (and a total reinstall) to realise it was the duel boot to windows (2 seperate hdds). The reason it took me a while to update what fixes it is the sound stopped working all together.
